Depending on the size of the shipment, women receive a quilt when they arrive at Heal Africa, or when they return home to their village.

Dedication of Quilts—September 2007 and August 2008

Before being sent to Congo, quilts are displayed at the First Presbyterian Church of Berkeley for a simple dedication service as part of Sunday worship.

Arrival at Goma—October 2007

After several complications at customs and the Rawanda-Congo border, the quilts are unpacked at the Heal Africa Hospital.  There is not a word for 'quilt' in the Swahili language, so the staff throught that plain blankets were being sent.  Beautiful hand-made quilts were a wonderful surprise.
